Day 195 - Off To School

Kenzie and Reece on their way to take Kenzie to school Wednesday morning.

Day 194 - Thomas the Train

These things are so weird looking, but Reece loves them.

Day 193 - Playing at Night

Reece loves his sand and water table ... in fact, he's even out there after dark playing in it still. This is Monday's photo, and was made by using a three-second exposure under the light of a single incandescent bulb.

Day 192 - Clouds

Day 191 - Happy Birthday Reece

Reece celebrated his third birthday on Saturday. I can't believe he's three already. I'm not sure what happened to the past year. Anyhow, he's really into trains right now, so that was the theme of the party (and most of the gifts). Lisa also outdid herself again on the cake. You can click here to see more cake photos.

Day 190 - Another Hot One

It's been miserably hot here for weeks now. This was the outside reading our van was showing on Friday.

Day 189 - Detail shots

I had to shoot some detail shots of devices used in heart treatments, and I was looking for something a little different than just arranging them on a table. That's when I noticed the desktop background on my monitor is a simple solid blue, and thought that may make a good backlit background. To prevent glare, I put a flash over my shoulder and bounced it off the white ceiling, and the results were pretty neat.

Day 188 - Hunter S. Toy-son

My daughter got some sort of toy figure yesterday, and when she showed it to me I thought it kinda resembled the writer Hunter S. Thompson. Then, I noticed the "I love L.V." item in his hand, and she said his name was Hunter ... imagine that ... a children's toy of the guy who wrote "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas."

Day 187 - Reece and More Choo Choos

He's kinda obsessed with Thomas the Train at the moment. The train he's playing with will actually be part of his birthday cake decorations ... if he'll let us use it, that is. This is Tuesday's photo.

Day 186 - Relaxin'

Kenzie comes up with the funniest use for everyday objects. Here, she's made two triangular makeup sponges into a lounge chair for one of her dolls.

Day 185 - Surgical Sunday

A detail from a robot-assisted surgery machine.

Day 184 - Nightswimming...

... or at least a swimming pool at night. This is the Flatwoods city pool where we had two parties in two nights over the weekend. This is from Saturday.

Day 183 - Pool Party

Reece loves to swim.

Day 182 - Lightning

Some pretty strong storms rolled through yesterday evening. Although they didn't hit very badly in Grayson where I live, they hit pretty hard in nearby Ashland and Boyd County, knocking out power in a big area. The lightning in the photo is pretty far away still.

Day 181 - Berries

From Wednesday night's dessert.

Day 180 - What's this?

It's the tip to a cake icing piping bag, the kind decorators (like my wife) use for making flowers and such. I'm holding it up to a light, so light is shining through the pattern on the end. This is Tuesday's photo ... I'm a little behind again.

Day 179 - First day of Third Grade

Kenzie was back to school again today, her first day of third grade. They grow up so fast.

Day 178 - Okily Dokily

I finally got one of the Burger King Simpsons toys during our trip to Maysville. I have been actively boycotting all the Ashland-area Burger King's because they "chose not to take part in the Simpsons promotion." For the life of me, I can't understand why, but because of that decision, I've decided not to patronize those establishments in this area.

Day 177 - New Choo Choos

Reece and his new trains he got on Saturday.

Day 176 - Water Park

As one last fun day of summer before the kids started school, we went to the water park in Maysville, Ky., on Friday. It was the perfect day for it.

Day 175 - Hot & Humid

This is condensation on the car this morning, mainly because at 7:30 a.m., it was already miserable hot and felt like a jungle when you stepped outside. It's hit above or near 100 for the past few days. It'll be fun to look back on this post this winter when I'm freezing to death.

Day 174 - Medical Images

Got a chance to photography some medical procedures today, and I have to say it's fascinating to watch the physicians and staff work.

Day 173 - Reece's Choo Choo

From Tuesday

Day 172 - Window Washers

Safety first ... window washers outside of our fifth floor office.

Day 171 - Mystery photo

I used to occasionally post mystery photos for people to try and guess, but I doubt I have the readership to do that anymore. Anyhow, I thought this would have made a good one.

Day 170 - Triathlon

Kenzie did a triathlon Saturday morning at Beech Fork Lake near Huntington, W.Va. For her age group (the 9 and under group), she swam 50 yards, biked for two miles and ran for a mile. The last pic is of her crossing the finish line.

Day 169 - Peek-A-Boo

One of the perks of not keeping up your landscaping, you sometimes get nice surprise flowers like this sunflower that's getting ready to bloom out in the middle of our weed-infested landscaping area around the house.

Day 168 - Swinging

At Grayson Lake last night. We went to let the kids swim and ride bikes to practice for their upcoming triathlon this weekend, but had plenty of time to play, too.

Day 167 - Maggie, again

Another view of this dog.
