Day 257 - Trick or Treat night

The kids dressed up and got loaded down with candy Tuesday evening. Kenzie and Reece both originally had pirate costumes, but Reece refused to wear his, instead wanting last year's Incredibles costume.

Day 256 - Monkey Groan Tube?

This is from a box in our office. We just had to open it and see exactly what it was.

Day 255 - Proud Dad Moment

The swim meet in Charleston, W.Va., wrapped up on Sunday, and here's Kenzie getting ready to go in for an event. She had a great meet, placing 3rd overall in one event and 5th overall in two events, plus she took considerable chunks off her fastest times in about every event. It was a competitive meet with some of the area's best swimmers taking part.

Day 254 - Grasshopper

It was a little chillier than it has been on Saturday, so this guy wasn't moving around much, allowing me to get in close for a photo.

Day 253 - Charleston, W.Va., Capitol Building

I was in Rick Lee country over the weekend as my daughter had a swim meet at the University of Charleston. Behind the school is a nice view of the capitol and the Kanawha River. Early in the day, you could get some of the reflection in the river. Later in the day, the clouds moved in, but the UC rowing team was practicing.

Day 252 - Head Shaver

I saw this in Kmart the other day, and on Thursday had my camera with me so I could snap a photo. It's a razor that's used to shave a head, but I'm not so sure making it look like a child's toy is such a great idea.

Day 251 - Wet Ivy

We finally got some much-needed rain. This is from Wednesday (I'm behind on my blogging again).

Day 250 - The Spaghetti Snoot Test

A shot of Reece from Tuesday using my homemade spaghetti box snoot. This makes a narrow beam of light fired from the flash, which is just to the camera left triggered by a gadget infinity remote.

Day 249 - Fall Morning Sky

Really nice looking sky out on the way to work Monday morning.

Day 248 - Sunday Morning Drive

Since Reece got up early, thought I'd take a drive and snap a few photos.

Day 247 - Fall scenery

From Saturday.

Day 246 - Reece

From Friday.

Day 245 - Farm scene

From my drive home Thursday.

Day 244 - Sign of the Times?

Wednesday's blog photo was brought to my attention by my friend Jason (literally, he took this sign down and brought it to me). It's from Morehead State University, proudly boasting that 81 percent of their students haven't driven under the influence in the past year. I guess that means close to 20 percent have, which seems like kind of a high percentage if you ask me. Not really the type of thing you want to be advertising.

Day 243 - Sunrise

I've probably posted this same shot several times, but it looks nice every time I see it. A beautiful sunrise this morning.

Day 242 - Jellyfish

Monday's photo is of a trinket my mother brought our daughter back from the beach. It's a glow-in-the-dark jellyfish encased in a lightbulb-shaped chunk of glass. To take a photo, I went to one of the only rooms in our house where light doesn't get in (being our guest bathroom), and did an 8-second exposure at ISO 400 to get this image. It was sitting on the back of a porcelain toilet, which gave a nice reflection effect that was completely accidental.

Day 241 - No pic, again

I've been a slacker when it comes to blogging lately. No pic again on Sunday.

Day 240 - Mmmm, Starbucks

From Saturday. It's actually much darker than it looks in the photo, but a longer exposure turned the dark sky a lighter blue.

Day 239 - Church Scenes

The Calvary Episcopal Church in Ashland. They do a community kitchen, and have a Meals on Wheels program where I was picking up food for delivery on Friday.

Day 238 - No Pic

Completely forgot to photograph anything Thursday.

Day 237 - Bubbles

From Wednesday.

Day 236 - Ceiling Patterns

Looking straight up from my desk.

Day 235 - Misty Morning

From Monday morning.

Day 234 - Pumpkin carving

Kenzie wasn't too fond of digging the insides out of the pumpkin.

Day 233 - City Geese

These guys were wandering around the McDonald's drive-thru just outside of Cincinnati on Saturday.

Day 232 - More Great Wolf

Some shots from Friday around the lodge. The top one is an overview. The second one is a detail of a hallway sconce. The whole place is a Northern wildlife theme. Pic number three is the giant water bucket that would constantly refill itself, and dump over onto the people below when it became full. Finally, there's another shot of King's Island at night. It was open on Friday night, and the lights to the rides were on. The tall pole-looking thing is the Drop Zone, and about halfway down, you can see a slight blur from where the ride has dropped.

Day 231 - Great Wolf Lodge

It was fall break this week, so we went to Great Wolf Lodge just outside Cincinnati for a couple of days. It's a hotel with an enormous indoor waterpark, so the kids loved it. It's also right next to King's Island, which we had a nice view of from our room balcony.

Day 230 - Wine Cap

And, finally, caught up with today's photo.

Day 229 - Stereo Plug

Slow picture day ... this is what I could find sitting around my desk Tuesday afternoon.

Day 228 - Clouds

Nice looking sky on Monday.

227 - Playing at the Spillway

We went to Grayson Lake Sunday evening and let the kids play on the playground and walk around their nature trail. There wasn't much to the trail this time of year (except for the wasps nest Reece discovered in one of the ladybug houses) but when springtime comes, it should be really nice.

Day 226 - Flag & Sky

Catch up time again. This is from Saturday.
