Day 105 - Mock Infrared

I've always wanted to try infrared photography, but am yet to get an infrared filter for my Nikon. However, by playing around in Photoshop's channel mixer, and adding some other effects, you can simulate the infrared effect in which your greens turn white and everything has sort of a surreal look. This isn't as good as a real infrared photo, but it's still kinda neat.

UPDATE: It would probably help if I posted the original, too.

Day 104 - Color tests

Still playing catch-up on my posts. This is from Tuesday when I spent a great amount of time trying to figure out why the color in these two images look so dramatically different from two different cameras when they had the exact same settings (ISO, White balance, shutter speed, and aperture). The one from the much less expensive Canon Digital Rebel is actually the correct color, but for some reason, when I use a blue gel on a black background, my Nikon D100 captures it as purple. If anyone out there has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Day 103 - Memorial Day Flowers

I didn't even notice the spider in the first photo until after I downloaded the picture to a computer. I just shot it, because I thought it was neat that part of the flower was pink while the rest of it is white. The second shot is a cropped and enlarged portion of the first with the spider.

We have some pink roses and white roses right next to one another, and I guess they have cross-pollinated.

Day 102 - Reece at Church

Our church had its Summer Kick-Off Sunday evening, and here's Reece riding a tricycle around in the parking lot.

Day 101 - Happy Birthday Kenzie

Kenzie turned 8 on Saturday, and being the mouse lover that she is, what else would her cake theme be. Lisa made several cakes that looked like big blocks of cheese, and had some of the Ratatouille characters on them.

Day 100 - Edible Mouse

Playing catch-up again after a busy weekend. This is a detail from one of Kenzie's mouse-themed cakes for her birthday. This is Friday's photo, and I'll post some more of the cakes tomorrow.

Day 97 - Ratatouille Pals

Kenzie has a knack of picking a birthday party theme of stuff that's not so easy to find. This year, she wanted to do a Ratatouille themed party based on the Pixar movie that's not out for another month. Luckily, we were able to find some characters to be used in the cake decorating. I'll post photos of the cake later, Lisa always does something incredible.

Days 95 & 96 - Again, no pics

I really blew it over the past couple of days by not shooting anything on Sunday or Monday.

Day 93 - The Streak is Broken

Friday, May 18, was the day I broke the streak and didn't take a single photo all day. Kind of a bummer. You'd think it would be that tough to snap something, but I just got busy and completely forgot about it. I debated on whether to keep this blog going since I didn't meet the objective, but I decided to keep posting, because it's more for me to look back on at the end of the year than it is to meet some goal.

Day 91 - More flowers

I'm gonna start playing catch-up here. This was shot on Wednesday, May 16. If there seems to be an inordinate amount of flower photos here lately, there's two reasons 1. It's that season, and 2. We've been doing a lot of events at work, and they all feature cool flower arrangements. And, yes, the second flower is real. I had to ask the same thing.

Way Behind

I'm way behind on my posting, and I actually have a couple of days where I blew it and didn't take a photo of anything. Despite not having a photo every day, I'll keep on posting with the hopes of only missing a couple for the year. Things just got a little busy recently. Maybe later today, I'll catch up with what I have.
